I have wanted to go on an overseas mission trip for a long time, but this is the first opportunity I have had. My uncle and aunt were missionaries to Ukraine and I have a cousin who works at an orphanage in Guatemala, so I have heard a lot about the need for people to be willing to go and share God’s love with others.  I heard about AIM from a kid at the Christian camp in Colorado where I worked last summer.  He came back with great stories and a stronger faith.  I couldn’t wait to sign up for a trip this summer, and Costa Rica seemed just right with it’s children’s ministry and mention of sports with them.  Right now I am at the Christian college where I will go this fall as a counselor at their athletic camp.  I’ll bring along some equipment and some ideas to Costa Rica!  I look forward to the construction jobs and drime, too.

My brother and I used our graduation gifts to fund this trip and we know that the sacrifice will be worth it in how much we learn and grow.  It was important to me to do something meaningful after high school and before I started college to help me to examine my life and focus on God’s purpose for me in the future.

I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and sharing a life changing experience!

  1. Thanks for sharing your heart, Melodie. It sounds like you and your brother have made some cool sacrifices to be here. Excited to see how the Lord will bless that!
